Thousands are expected to view Camfaud slab
A concrete slab that we poured recently is set to become one of our most studied pieces of work. The slab in question is part of a major new art installation in the Tate Modern by the Colombian sculptor Doris Salcedo. Entitled Shibboleth, the slab is 167 metres long and is broken by a crack that widens as it jags down the Tate's Turbine Hall. Salcedo describes the installation by saying that: "It represents borders, the experience of immigrants, the experience of segregation, the experience of racial hatred."
The concrete work was carried out by Mann Construction Ltd who hired a high pressure boom pump with operator, approximately 100 metres of pipeline and a linesman to manage the pipeline. The slab was completed in six visits, pumping from two separate set-up positions.
New M66/63 - the largest pump in Europe
After a long wait, our new M66/63 pump has been delivered and will be available for hire from September. This pump is the largest pump available in Europe and can only now be hired in the U.K. In recent years, we have seen a growing demand for large boom pumps and in response, our fleet has grown with particular emphasis on this sector. Camfaud now offers M40, M44, M47, M52, M61/58 as well as this new M66/63. For more information about the M66/63 and to discuss the advantages of using our long boom concrete pumps on your site, please phone or email us.
Putzmeister M20/4 City Pump
In April 2007 we took delivery of a new Putzmeister BSF 20.09H. This machine is considered to be the new generation of City Pumps - with a 3.4 metre outrigger span, it can fit into the tightest of city sites. The boom, at 20 metres vertical reach, is 4 metres longer than that of the older City Pumps and with 4 sections it is even more flexible. The pumping unit has been upgraded to a 90 cubic metre per hour and with 78 bar line pressure it can easily cope with long pipelines.
The City Pump range has proved to be extremely popular since it's introduction in 1976 especially for pumping extensions, renovations and on sites where space is at a premium. This new generation of machines will be welcomed in all these applications and should also find favour in industrial concrete flooring sector by pumping high volumes of concrete from a low unfolding height boom.
New Putzmeister 5 section M42
In February 2007 Camfaud added a new Putzmeister BSF 42-5 .16 HLS pump to the fleet. This machine can pump a (theoretical) 160 cubic metres per hour and has 250 mm pumping cylinders to ensure a smooth flow of concrete with minimal movement of the boom.
The boom is a 5 section design, with an unfolding height of 8.6 metres, making it suitable for work inside buildings as well out in the open. The boom is operated using the latest Putzmeister E.B.C. radio remote control which allows precise movement control. In addition, the end placing hose is fitted with an end hose squeeze valve to prevent concrete falling through the boom under gravity when the pump is stopped.
New Schwing M61/58 pump
Immediately prior to Christmas 2006 Camfaud took delivery of a new Schwing M61/58 boom pump. This is the largest boom pump currently available in the United Kingdom.
The concrete pumping unit is a 2525H giving up to 163 cubic metres per hour output (theoretical) with 2500mm x 250mm cylinders for smooth delivery of concrete.
