Our mobile boom pump fleet had a very busy year in 2016. We record the throughput of each of our mobile pumps so we can monitor the wear on the boom pipes and concrete pump wear parts. Last year our boom pumps pumped approximately 1,075,000 cubic metres of concrete. This is the first time that we had exceeded 1 million cubic metres of concrete pumped.
The highlight of the year, in terms of technical difficulty, has to have been the long distance pumping we have done using our static pumps. In 2016, we completed 43 pours that involve pumping though 500m or longer pipelines. The longest of these was in excess of 1,100m and several were around the 1,000m mark. If pumping that distance wasn’t difficult enough, 32 of the pours involved pumping heavy weight concrete. On the heavy weight concrete pours, at 1,000m, the pumps had to push around 44 tonnes of material on every stroke!
We were gratified, in 2016, to receive recognition for our work from several diverse, external sources. Last year Camfaud was identified by the London Stock Exchange Group as one of the “1000 Companies to Inspire Britain”. We were also named as one of the “50 brightest and most innovative companies in Essex” by the Essex Innovation Programme. And Putzmeister, one of our two pump suppliers, featured our work pumping the concrete base for the British Airways i360, Brighton in a long article in the BAUMA edition of their Putzmeister Post and also in their 2016 Putzmeister Calendar.
And finally, 77,165 people visited our website in 2016 – including 102 on Christmas day, 5 of whom were considering applying for work at Camfauds!
